Spartans Score Late, Upend Beehive, 9-7
|
It was a good time at The Coliseum, where fans came to watch the Madison Beehive and Sandy Springs Spartans get after it.
The Sandy Springs Spartans outlasted Rich Burnes and the Madison Beehive, 9-7. Burnes was impressive in the loss. The Madison third baseman went 2-3 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Getting the save was Tom Polk, his 3rd.
Chuck McNeil had a productive at-bat for the Spartans with one out in the bottom of the sixth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, the third baseman grounded out, driving in 1 run. The at-bat was important in the Sandy Springs win.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," McNeil told a Sandy Springs News reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
The Beehive, now 7-13, continue their poor start.
