Bulldogs Get Road Win, 8-5
|
Wichita first baseman Willis Pierce had a good game, even if his team did not. The Wolverines dropped a 8-5 decision to Spokane at Howling Park. Pierce went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Cris Ayala got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 5 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 0. Kevin Labbee, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save.
Spokane took control in the top of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Ricardo Fierro hit a run-scoring single to make it 5-4, Bulldogs.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Fierro told the Spokane Times.
The Wolverines fall to 8-10 and continue their uneven start to the 2032 season.
