The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements at Howling Park enjoyed themselves.
The Wichita Wolverines buried the Long Island Ducks, 12-2, under a barrage of hits. Alan Isaac led the onslaught, going 3-for-4 for Wichita. Wichita starter Dennis Gates was credited with the win after throwing 97 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-1.
In the bottom of the second inning, Wichita got a break when Isaac went to the plate. With two outs, runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Wolverines leading 1-0, Isaac hit a 2-run double.
"They took us to the woodshed," said Long Island manager Roger Fievet.
The Ducks fall to 8-9 and continue their wobbly start to the 2032 season.
