Elias Bowen pitched well, but the So Cal Republic still lost the game, falling 3-2 to the Portland Beavers at House of the Republic. The save was credited to Olivier Martin, his 2nd. The win pushes Portland to a record of 2-2.
Lai-hsiang Xiu delivered a big hit for the Beavers. The veteran first baseman belted a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth. The longball put Portland on top, 3-0. Overall, Xiu was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Portland manager Ryan Blandford said.
