Beetlecats Edge Silicon Valley in Pitching Duel
|
Right-hander Harrison Keightley mesmerized the Silicon Valley Hackers while leading the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats to a 1-0 victory. Buzzard's Bay reliever Javier Vargas got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Walker Hoekstra was tagged with the loss. Mike Salter closed the door for Buzzard's Bay, picking up his 5th save of the year.
The Buzzard's Bay win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Marcos Serrano. In the bottom of the sixth, the Buzzard's Bay center fielder came to bat and hit a run-scoring single. It staked his team to a 1-0 lead.
"The old adage is true," said Keightley. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
Buzzard's Bay is now 10-5.
