Storm Troopers Nip Snaps, 6-5
|
San Antonio beat Cincinnati at The Clone Army, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to catcher Kevin Rivière, who earned player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. John Welch earned the save for San Antonio, his 2nd of the year. The Snaps, now 5-10, continue their poor start.
One important at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the bottom of the seventh inning. Facing Cincinnati hurler Lenny Tremlett, Oscar Smith drew a walk. The Storm Troopers went on to win.
"We played hard and won," said Rivière. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
