Pacifica overcame a superlative game from Manabu Yamauchi to beat Newark, 5-3. The Newark pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Pacifica reliever Royce Leveque picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Botol Soverosa took the loss. Tony Torres finished the game for Pacifica and earned his 2nd save.

Had Ernie Horswill not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Horswill hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Shamrocks.

"I like the roll we're on," said Pacifica manager Joe Leftwich.

Pacifica, at 4-0, has sizzled in the early going.
