Brent Nordstrom was the difference-maker for the Sandy Springs Spartans in what turned into a shootout with the Long Island Ducks. Nordstrom earned the player of the game award after going 2-for-5 in the 12-9 Spartans win. Sandy Springs reliever Alonso Palma was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Bill Brock. Bill Harris closed the game out for Sandy Springs, earning his 1st save.

Nordstrom in the top of the second had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and the Spartans leading 5-2, he hit a grand slam.

"I felt good up there," said Nordstrom. "I saw the ball well."

Losses have been few and far between for the Ducks so far this season. Their record drops to 2-1.
