The DeKalb Cornhuskers beat the Sandy Springs Spartans, 7-5, at The Coliseum. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Eric Farlin, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. DeKalb reliever César Ramírez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Alonso Palma shouldered the loss. David Gilmour, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.

The Cornhuskers got a lift from designated hitter Eric Daniels who had a run-scoring walk in the top of the third inning off Nobuhiko Newton. It was his 1st walk of the season and put DeKalb in front, 1-0.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Daniels told the DeKalb Observer.

The win pushes DeKalb to a record of 1-1.
