Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Newark Jail Birds home opener. Lonnie Young started for the home team against Guo-quiang Zhào for the Atlantic City Enforcers. The Jail Birds were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 6-2, Atlantic City. Luis Morales was named player of the game.

Had Tom Cherry not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Cherry hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Enforcers.

"I like our moxie," said Enforcers manager Juan Guerrero.
