Raptors Squelch Fireballs Offense in Shutout Win
|
Omaha and Joplin met at The Firepit in front of a lively crowd.
The Omaha Raptors topped the Joplin Fireballs, 6-0, in Darryl Kile League action at The Firepit. The player of the game was Omaha pitcher Harold Hayne. Hayne, now 12-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs.
In the top of the sixth inning, designated hitter Mario Encarnación delivered a key hit for the Raptors. With Omaha leading 2-0, he ripped a 2-run home run.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Jeremy Lake.
Omaha's record now stands at 77-83, placing them third in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division.
