Freeze Topple Death Stars with Late Rally
|
Fans who gathered at The Ice Box saw a good contest between the Minneapolis Freeze and Detroit Death Stars.
Minneapolis Freeze starter Yaichiro Tamura was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Detroit Death Stars, 5-3. Larry Greer picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 9-3. José Barrachina was tagged with the loss.
Minneapolis took a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With two out, designated hitter Yen-nien Tong hit a 3-run home run that brought the crowd to its feet.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Tamura. "Successful pitchers do it."
The first-place Freeze have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
