Tight Tilt Goes to Bumblebees, 4-3
|
The Pasadena Bumblebees picked up a win at Anchorage Municipal Stadium, knocking off the Omaha Raptors, 4-3. On the mound for Pasadena was right-hander Alfonso Sadim, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 7.1 innings, Sadim surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 4. He allowed 3 runs. The save was credited to Jim Unknown, his 1st.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the second inning when the Bumblebees sent teenager Bartley Alroy to the plate against Raptors hurler Miguel Hinojosa. With a runner on 1st and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a home run off a first pitch fastball to score 2.
"Not to put too fine a point on it," said Alroy, "but we really needed that win."
The Raptors, at 76-82, have lost 4 in a row.
