Big Day by Sandoval Sparks Coal Miners Win
|
The Antioch Coal Miners blasted the Astoria Argonauts, 16-5. Jorge Sandoval was one of the hitting stars. He was 3-6 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5 for Antioch. Matsuyo Koda picked up the win with 5.2 innings of work. He allowed 4 earned runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 10. On the season, he is now 20-6. Adam Pitkeathy nailed down his 1st save.
With Antioch trailing 3-2 in the top of the fifth, Sandoval came up to bat against Astoria pitcher Chris Pelton. Sandoval hit a cutter to right for a grand slam home run. His 25th home run of the season put the Coal Miners on top, 6-3.
