Aeropostales Come Up Short at Vancouver
|
The Vancouver Canadians trumped the Indian Wells Aeropostales, 8-7, at Stanley Park. Vancouver first baseman Masayuki Kimura was named player of the game for his performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Wilson Polk got the win, improving to 5-7. He held the Aeropostales to 4 earned runs on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 5. Alexis Coates sewed up the save, his 19th.
With Vancouver trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the third, Kimura hit a 2-run home run off Indian Wells hurler Wade White. It was the 17th home run of the season for Kimura and put his team ahead, 4-3.
"Not to put too fine a point on it," said Kimura, "but we really needed that win."
The Canadians improved to 77-80.
