Minneapolis pitcher Mitsuharu Nakashima did his part in helping his team beat the Joplin Fireballs, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The first-place Freeze have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.

Both teams had trouble scoring runs. So, Bob Nichols's at-bat in the top of the eighth was crucial. With no one out, the Minneapolis shortstop hit a run-scoring double, to give his team a 3-2 lead.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Nichols told the Minneapolis News.
