Mustangs Score Late to Upend Bombers, 6-4
|
The Mustangs had to overcome a fine effort from Bronx pitcher Pedro López to grab a narrow 6-4 win at Cobb Field. López went 6.2 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Mickael Raymond picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 6-6. Albert Giles was tagged with the loss. John Otten earned the save, his 15th, for the Mustangs.
Billings took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out, shortstop Manny Lugo hit a 2-run home run that amped up the crowd.
"Feels good to get the job done," Lugo said after the game.
The 'W' lifts Billings's record to 69-84.
