Thrilling Victory Pushes Canadians Win Streak to 5
|
The Canadians had to overcome a fine performance from Coronado pitcher Phil Phillips to grab a 3-2 win at Stanley Park. Phillips allowed 2 earned runs over 6.1 innings. Vancouver reliever Alexis Coates picked up the win, upping his record to 5-4. You-liang Rang was saddled with the loss. The losses continue to add up for Coronado, which has now fallen 8 times in a row.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 2-2, designated hitter Masayuki Kimura won it for Vancouver. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Kimura hit a 0-1 fastball from You-liang Rang for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 3-2 win.
"The want-to is there for our guys," said Coronado manager Jeffrey Graham. "We'll get this thing turned around."
