Aeropostales Fall Short, 3-2, at Albuquerque
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Albuquerque Cacti and the Indian Wells Aeropostales, pitcher Scotti Scannell was the difference between victory and defeat. The Albuquerque right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 Cacti win. The first-place Cacti raised their record to 79-71.
Scannell went 2-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Albuquerque. With the game tied in the bottom of the fourth inning, Scannell had a clutch at-bat. That's when he hit a solo home run to give the Cacti a 3-2 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Albuquerque manager Lou Hampton said.
