Ota Silences Canton Bats
|
In a low-scoring game between Vancouver and Canton, pitcher Hajime Ota was excellent. The Vancouver right-hander was named the player of the game in Vancouver's 1-0 win. The Canadians raised their record to 71-77.
Ota was in the zone all game. He frustrated Canton hitters while giving the Canadians 7 innings of quality work. Ota threw 97 pitches, allowing 2 hits and getting 7 punchouts.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Vancouver manager John Harrison.
