Aces Best Black Knights in Pitching Duel
|
Columbus beat Brooklyn at Blue Ivy Stadium, eking out a 2-1 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Takeshi Gato, who earned player of the game honors. The win moves Columbus to a record of 14-16.
Joaquín Rodríguez was one of the major contributors to the win for Columbus. The light-hitting first baseman stroked a single to left in the top of the fifth inning. For the day, he was 2-4 with 2 singles.
"That's baseball," said Brooklyn manager Diego Aguirre. "You're not always going to be hitting on all cylinders."
