Phantoms Best Freedom in Pitching Duel
|
Phantoms Field was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
Coronado starter Phil Phillips put a stranglehold on the Philadelphia offense. The left-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Phantoms to a 2-1 win. Phillips, now 10-8, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing no earned runs. Roberto Mejía finished the game for Coronado and earned his 1st save.
The Phantoms beat the Freedom with some clutch hitting. The single by Yeong-suk Ha in the bottom of the sixth is a good example. With two down, Ha gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he came through with the big hit.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Coronado manager Jeffrey Graham.
Coronado bumps their record to 68-74 with the win.
