Fireballs Squelch Cats Offense in Shutout Win
Austin Meyers could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Fort Worth Cats lost, dropping a 3-0 decision to the Joplin Fireballs at The Firepit. Joplin reliever Mauro Durango picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Austin Meyers shouldered the loss. Tomoyuki Kiyomizu earned the save, his 26th, for the Fireballs.

Ross Stephenson, who is tied for 3rd in the DKL with a .413 on-base percentage, aided the Joplin cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder was 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.

"Ah, the sweet taste of victory," Stephenson crowed after the game.

Joplin is now 59-83. Fort Worth is 72-70.
