Mustangs Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Fireballs
Fans who came to The Firepit watched the Billings Mustangs and the Joplin Fireballs fight to the finish.

Billings beat Joplin at The Firepit, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to first baseman Way-ming Wang, who earned player of the game honors. David Duarte earned the win for Billings. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 8 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 3-3.

In the top of the 8th, pinch hitter Willie Butler gave Billings the lead when he hit a 2-run home run. The Mustangs had been trailing 5-4, but the two-out home run off Joplin pitcher Carlos Mendoza changed that -- and Billings went on to win.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Wang said.

Billings occupies 4th place in the Darryl Kile League Cito Gaston League at 64-75.
