Gillard Gets Win in Fairfield Rout
|
Fairfield starter Joe Gillard kept the Canton offense in check, while his team cruised to a 11-0 win. Fairfield is now 78-56, 5 games up in the Nick Adenhart League Tony La Russa Division.
Gillard, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited effort. The hurler struck out 6 in 7.1 innings and gave up no earned runs.
Gillard, who leads the NAL in strikeouts with 184, moves to 11-8 on the year with 184 strikeouts.
"I like easy wins," Gillard told the Fairfield News.
