The Scranton Escape downed the Coronado Phantoms, 5-1, at Phantoms Field. The Escape were led by Luis López, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Roy Aitken was the winner. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 1 run on 3 hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. The 4th-place Escape now have a 5-game winning streak.
José Tobías had a big run-scoring single for the Escape in the top of the fourth inning. With Scranton leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a curveball from Russell Numbers and stroked the single to center. It was his 69th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Escape ahead, 2-0.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Coronado manager Jeffrey Graham.
