Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Phantoms
|
Coronado beat Omaha at Phantoms Field, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to designated hitter Susumu Yamamoto, who earned player of the game honors. He was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Coronado, at 66-66, occupies 4th place in the Nick Adenhart League Bobby Cox Division.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Coronado trailing 5-4, Yamamoto hit a fastball from Jason Engel for a 2-run home run. Just like that, the Phantoms had a walk-off win.
"This wasn't a good win," said Yamamoto. "It was a great win."
