Late Magic Gets Detroit 3-1 Win
|
The Death Stars had to overcome a good performance from Bowling Green pitcher David Guzman to claim a 3-1 win at The Death Star. Guzman went 5.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. The winner was Detroit reliever Lorenzo Ortega, now 9-5. The loser was Yohachi Adachi. Raul Nunez earned the save for Detroit, his 34th of the year.
Tony Martinez provided some late-game drama. In the bottom of the eighth, with one out and a runner on 2nd, Martinez hit a run-scoring double. It helped Detroit take the lead and grab the win.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Detroit manager David Parker.
Detroit is now 63-67.
