Fireballs Suffer 12-2 Drubbing
|
The Silver Lake Baristas easily defeated the Joplin Fireballs, 12-2, at The Firepit, with first baseman Jon Miron a main contributor to the win. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Silver Lake. Chang-wei Zhou got the win, improving to 5-12. He held the Fireballs to 1 earned run on 5 hits over 9 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Joplin is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.
Miron contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the sixth. With the bases loaded, he hit a bases-clearing double. It was one of the critical at-bats that helped Silver Lake get the win.
Joplin manager Jeremy Lake was on the defensive afterward. "You can go back and make us look as bad as you want to," he told a reporter, "and then I can throw more numbers at you and make us look better."
