Aeropostales Come Up Short at Fort Worth
|
The Fort Worth Cats turned back the Indian Wells Aeropostales, 5-4, at LaGrave Field. Dave Stoner was named player of the game for his fine performance. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Fort Worth reliever Nabil bin Baha picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Ron Robinson took the loss. Robby Guzman earned the save for Fort Worth, his 31st.
Fort Worth left fielder Jayden Rossell contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball into left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 28th hit of the season and put the Cats ahead, 5-4.
"Dave is still learning," said Cats manager Lowell Wise. "The sky's the limit for him."
Fort Worth's record now stands at 65-60, placing them second in the Nick Adenhart League Bobby Cox Division.
