Raiders Fall to .500 After Loss to Death Stars
The Detroit Death Stars knocked off the Reno Raiders, 7-4, at House of Pain. Shinji Kakuta, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Detroit won. The first baseman went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Bill Piner picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 4 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 3-0. Raul Nunez earned the save, his 32nd, for the Death Stars.

The Death Stars took the lead, 4-3, in the top of the sixth. Kakuta had the clutch at-bat. With no one out and a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run.

"They played a better game than we did," said Reno skipper Chris Brading.

The Death Stars, at 60-65, sit in third place in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division.
