Fans who congregated at Hell Stadium were treated to extra-inning drama.

In a high-scoring contest between Fairfield and Scranton, second baseman Susumu Kono was a difference-maker. Kono, who is tied for 7th in the NAL with a .323 batting average, earned player of the game honors in the 10-8 Fairfield win. He was 3-5 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Fairfield reliever Saiyid Mashwanis picked up the win, upping his record to 6-3. Rino Nitisastro shouldered the loss.

The most important at-bat came in the top of the tenth inning. With one out, Rino Nitisastro threw a 1-2 fastball to Kono, which he hit to left for a 2-run home run. It put Fairfield in front, 10-8.

"I don't care about style points," Kono said. "I only care about winning."

The Escape, at 58-59, have lost 4 straight games.
