Kawakami 4-4 in Canadians Win
|
With second baseman Yoichibei Kawakami leading the charge, the Vancouver Canadians defeated the Coronado Phantoms, 6-1, at Phantoms Field. Kawakami went 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs. The third-place Phantoms have lost 4 straight games.
Kiemon Matsunaga wielded some clout for Vancouver. The first baseman had a grand slam home run in the top of the first for the Canadians. It put his team ahead, 4-0, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Matsunaga was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once.
"We take it day by day here," said Kawakami, "and today was a good one for us."
