Raptors Subdue Minneapolis, 6-4
|
Minneapolis third baseman Bob Nichols was sensational. He was 3-3 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Omaha beat the Freeze, 6-4. Nichols was named the player of the game despite the loss. Harold Hayne was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 11 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Omaha is 53-63 and Minneapolis, with the loss, 63-52.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Shoji Ando muscled up and hit a 3-run home run. It put Omaha ahead, 4-1. For the game, Ando was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"It was a solid team effort," said Ando after the game.
