Caterpillars Need Extra Frames to Get Past Coal Miners
|
The Peoria Caterpillars got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jim Obershaw, who muffled the Antioch offense en route to a tight 2-1 Caterpillars win at The Coal Mine. Peoria reliever John Now was credited with the win, to go to 3-0. Eddie Rosado took the loss for Antioch. Peoria has a 3-game win streak, while Antioch has lost 3 in a row.
Runs were at a premium. So, Hiyutaro Ushijima's at-bat with one out in the top of the tenth was crucial. The Peoria catcher hit a sacrifice fly, to give his team a 2-1 lead.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Antioch manager John Smiley said following the tough loss.
