Islanders Get 3-1 Win Versus Eureka
|
The Hawaii Islanders got a magnificent performance from pitcher Rodrigo Garza, who muffled the Eureka offense en route to a tight 3-1 Islanders win at The Nest. Garza, now 3-2, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Winston Boer picked up the save for Hawaii, his 11th of the year.
Douglas Dannattet changed the game with one swing of the bat. With no one out in the top of the seventh, the Hawaii catcher hammered a 2-run home run off Jorge Salazar. It was his 1st home run of the season. With it, Hawaii took the lead, 2-0.
"Good to pick up this win," Garza said.
The win brings the Islanders to 17-11, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
