Titans Win 2-1 Walk-Off
|
In a low-scoring game between the Chicago Titans and the Scranton Escape, pitcher Mai Do was masterful on the mound. The Chicago right-hander was named the player of the game in Chicago's 2-1 win. Chicago reliever Jason Hunter picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Máximo Larreta was saddled with the loss. With the win, the Titans have a record of 63-53.
Coming to the plate with two out in the bottom of the 12th inning, Chicago right fielder Kunio Suto had a chance to be the hero. Facing Scranton pitcher Máximo Larreta with a runner on 3rd, Suto, who is tied for 5th in the NAL with a .908 OPS, hit a walk-off run-scoring single.
During his postgame press conference, Titans manager Bill Riordan told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
