Phantoms Roll Over Cacti, 9-3
|
Coronado played host to Albuquerque at the friendly confines of Phantoms Field.
The Coronado Phantoms racked up a win at Phantoms Field, bumping off the Albuquerque Cacti, 9-3. Shoichi Ikeda, who started for Coronado, pitched effectively for his team. Ikeda picked up the win for Coronado, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 3-2.
The Phantoms used some clutch hitting to beat the Cacti, a good example being the at-bat of Germano Lamorr in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, Lamorr gave his team the lead, 4-3, when he hit a run-scoring single.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Ikeda. "Successful pitchers do it."
The Phantoms have now won 4 straight.
