Coal Miners Squelch Freeze Offense in Shutout Win
|
In a tight battle between the Antioch Coal Miners and the Minneapolis Freeze, pitcher Lloyd Huggins was in the zone. The Antioch right-hander was named the player of the game in Antioch's 3-0 win. The first-place Coal Miners have won 5 straight.
Antioch grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Roger Schäfer hit a 2-run double. For the day, Schäfer was 3 for 3 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
"Lloyd did a tremendous job," said Antioch manager John Smiley.
