Omaha wasted a solid 6.2-inning effort from starting pitcher Jesús Castillo, losing to Billings, 2-1, at Anchorage Municipal Stadium. Getting the save was John Otten, his 3rd. The Mustangs saw their record improve to 53-58.
The Mustangs got a lift from center fielder Julián Reséndez who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning off Jesús Castillo. It was his 19th RBI of the season and put Billings in front, 2-1.
"The old adage is true," said Reséndez. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
