Bombers Come Back Late to Clip Bumblebees
|
The Bronx Bombers got a good effort from starter Sébastien Duval in defeating the Pasadena Bumblebees at The Hole. The final score was 3-1. Bronx reliever Albert Giles picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Gilberto Chávez shouldered the loss. Bronx is now 40-63, Pasadena 47-58.
The most important at-bat for Bronx came in the top of the ninth inning, when third baseman Jorge Guerrero stroked a 1-2 sinker to left for a 2-run single, putting Bronx up, 3-1.
Afterward, Bombers manager Carl Smith was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
