Argonauts Beat Freeze, 5-2
|
Minneapolis got a terrific game from third baseman Jim Bungay. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Astoria, 5-2. Bungay was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. Astoria reliever Rhys Ballard picked up the win, upping his record to 6-4. Yaichiro Tamura absorbed the loss. The Argonauts sit in 5th place in the Darryl Kile League Cito Gaston League with a record of 48-58.
The Argonauts beat the Freeze in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Pablo Sosa produced in the bottom of the fourth. Batting against Minneapolis pitcher Yaichiro Tamura, Sosa gave his team a 4-2 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
Sosa called the win "a collective effort."
