Marauders Lose Late, 2-1
|
Dallas Texans starter Paul Johnston turned in a top-notch performance against the Maple Marauders at Metroplex Park. The result was a win for the Texans, 2-1. Johnston picked up the win for Dallas, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 1-4. Adrien Clément recorded the save for Dallas, his 9th of the season.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Juan Calderon was at the plate when Dallas scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Texans to go in front, 2-1.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Dallas manager Anastasio Ojeda said.
Losses have been few and far between for the Marauders, who are now 20-7.
