Caterpillars Fall Short, 6-5, at Joplin

Fans at The Firepit were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Joplin Fireballs take on the Peoria Caterpillars.
Joplin right-hander Nicholas Norman made an effective start against the Peoria Caterpillars at The Firepit, leading his team to a 6-5 win. Norman, the winner, moves to 8-6. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 5 walks.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, third baseman Kenny Butler delivered a key hit for the Fireballs. With Joplin leading 2-0, he ripped a grand slam home run.
"Feels good to get the job done," Butler said after the game.
Joplin currently is in last place in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division at 44-61.
