Cats Jolt Raptors with Late Rally
|
People near LaGrave Field no doubt heard the roar of the crowd as the winning run crossed the plate.
The Fort Worth Cats beat the Omaha Raptors, 7-6 at LaGrave Field, in part due to center fielder Chandler Lennie, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 2-5 with a triple and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Fort Worth reliever Al Bates picked up the win, upping his record to 1-3. Jason Engel was saddled with the loss.
Ron Woods was the walk-off hero for Fort Worth. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cats second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Woods said.
The 5th-place Cats have won 4 in a row.
