The Omaha Raptors beat the Canton Paczkis, 7-3, at Anchorage Municipal Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Tom Bailey, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Harold Hayne, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 1. His record now stands at 5-1. Jason Engel earned the save for Omaha, his 16th.
Early in the game, Bailey had a 2-run single for Omaha. It was his 30th hit of the season and put the Raptors on top, 2-0.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Omaha skipper Manuel Ruíz. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
Omaha, now 45-54, holds 5th place in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division.
