Caterpillars Roll to 8-1 Win Over Freedom
|
The Peoria Caterpillars and Philadelphia Freedom completed their game despite the inclement weather.
Peoria Caterpillars starter Gabriel Núñez turned in a top-notch performance against the Philadelphia Freedom at Excavatar Park. The result was a win for the Caterpillars, 8-1. Núñez got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 2 over 5.2 innings. Núñez allowed 1 earned run.
Peoria left fielder Dinh-Hy Mai helped the Caterpillars to the win. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the 23-year old third baseman stroked a run-scoring triple. For the game, Mai went 2-2 with a triple.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Núñez said.
The 5th-place Caterpillars are now 45-53, the Freedom 56-41.
