Silva, Fireballs Too Much for Raptors
|
The Joplin Fireballs topped the Omaha Raptors by the score of 5-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to first baseman Manny Silva. Silva went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Fireballs on the day. Nicholas Norman picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-6. He struck out 5 in 6.1 innings. Seung-jin Hwang, credited with the save, is now 2 for 4 in save opportunities.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Joplin got a break when Silva went to the plate. With no outs, a runner on 1st and the Fireballs trailing 3-1, Silva hit a 2-run home run.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Silva, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
At 40-56, the Fireballs are currently last in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division.
