Eckard slugs 2 home runs in Aeropostales Win
|
The Indian Wells Aeropostales downed the Albuquerque Cacti, 10-6, at Stars Field. The Aeropostales were led by Chandler Eckard, who captured player of the game honors. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Indian Wells reliever Wing-chiu Zhou was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Raymond Riley. Picking up the save was Jonathan Kelly, his 15th.
Corey Florey had a big run-scoring double for the Aeropostales in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Indian Wells trailing 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Raymond Riley and stroked the double to center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Aeropostales ahead, 3-2.
"We got the victory," said Eckard. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
Indian Wells is 47-46 and Albuquerque, with the loss, 45-47.
