The skies opened up and the rain fell at Waterfront Park.
Cabo San Lucas rode a fine outing from starter Phoenix Smith to victory over the Portland Beavers at Waterfront Park. The final score was 5-2. Smith, now 2-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 2 earned runs. Earning his 9th save for Cabo San Lucas was Lloyd Hunt.
Kajal Ghandi had a big 3-run home run for the Toreros in the top of the fifth inning. With Cabo San Lucas trailing 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Terry Hill and stroked the home run to right. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Toreros ahead, 3-2.
"I'm glad we can make our fans happy with a win," Smith told the Cabo San Lucas Times.
Cabo San Lucas is now 12-13.
